What is an American Pocket Bully?
The American Pocket Bully is a smaller version of the American Bully. Which itself is a descendant of the American Pit Bull Terrier and the American Staffordshire Terrier. The Pocket Bully is one of the many variants of the American Bully breed, alongside other sizes like the Standard, XL, and Classic. The key distinction between the Pocket Bully and its larger counterparts is its size despite its muscular build. The Pocket Bully is more compact and typically stands between 14 to 17 inches tall at the shoulder.
Origin of the American Pocket Bully
The American Pocket Bully has its origins in the United States. Where it was developed in the 1990s by breeders seeking to create a smaller, more compact version of the American Bully. The breeding process focused on reducing the size of the American Bully without compromising its muscular build or temperament. To achieve this, breeders crossed the American Pit Bull Terrier with various other bull-type dogs to introduce desired traits such as short coats, muscular frames, and bold personalities. The Pocket Bully emerged as a result of selective breeding, with breeders specifically targeting smaller dogs with the same strong and stocky frame.
Although the American Pocket Bully is a relatively new breed, it has gained rapid popularity thanks to its lovable demeanor, stunning appearance, and manageable size. These dogs are now recognized by various kennel clubs, such as the United Kennel Club (UKC) and the American Bully Kennel Club (ABKC).

Training and Socialization
